IABAC Certification Maintenance & Renewal Policy

1) Certificate Validity

Foundation & Managerial certifications: Lifetime validity. No renewal required.

Note: Lifetime validity recognizes competence at the time of certification; candidates are encouraged to upskill to remain current.

All other IABAC certifications: Valid for 3 years from the award date.

2) Renewal Windows & Grace

Standard window: You may submit renewal from 90 days before until 90 days after expiry.

Lapsed > 90 days and ≤ 6 months: Renewal still possible but requires renewal exam.

Lapsed > 6 months: Candidate must retake the full certification exam for reinstatement.

3) Renewal Paths

A) CPD Path (Continuing Professional Development)

Earn 60 CPD units during the 3-year cycle.

Equivalency: 1 hour of eligible activity = 1 CPD.

If you do not meet CPD requirements, sit for the IABAC renewal exam.

4) CPD: What Counts

Education (learning):

IABAC Webinars, conferences, lectures by IABAC, IABAC Partners, or reputable bodies.

Contribution (giving back):

Speaking at webinars/events, mentoring, training delivery, authoring articles or case studies, and open-source project contributions in the domain.

5) Documentation & Audit

Proof required: Attendance/completion certificates, organizer confirmations, agendas, published links, or verifiable artifacts.

Audit rights: IABAC may audit any submission; falsified claims may result in denial of renewal or certificate revocation.

6) How to Submit

Compile CPD details (dates, activity type, hours, proof).

Submit via the portal: iabac.org/certification-renewal/renew (attach evidence).

Turnaround time: IABAC will confirm renewal status within 15 business days of complete submission.

7) Validity of CPDs

CPDs must be earned within the active 3-year cycle of the certification being renewed.

CPDs cannot be carried forward from prior cycles or claimed after expiry.

8) Ethics & Compliance

Activities must adhere to IABAC’s Code of Ethics and exam integrity.

Any misconduct during renewal (e.g., forged CPDs) can lead to suspension or revocation.
